Professional-grade confined-space CVI drone

Inspect where
people can't go.

A confined-space inspection drone that puts a 4K camera through 16-inch manways and holds rock-steady on its own. No scaffolding, no entry, no expert pilot.

The product — Nolvis X1

Four reasons the X1 changes your inspection math.

Fly the camera in. Keep the people — and the scaffold — out.

Rock-steady on its own

No expert pilot — a few hours of training.

16″

Fits where others can't

Passes 16-inch manways — proven on-site.

3D

Point cloud included

Captures 3D .las as you fly.

1/3

Finally within reach

Less than 1/3 the cost of legacy CVI.

 Rock-steady
▶ LiDAR holds position — hands off the sticks

The LiDAR reads the walls 200,000 times a second and holds position without GPS — a first-week operator can park it in front of the surface and just look.

Operate with confidence

Easy to operate.
Easy to keep flying.

A few hours of training, twelve minutes to launch — your existing inspectors stay in charge.

▶ The complete X1 workflow — arrival to report
1

Arrive & unpack

One case, two people — 12 minutes to first flight.

2

Fly — steady by itself

Flies itself rock-steady — capturing 3D as it goes.

The problem

You already pay for access. Every cycle.

A scaffold and a permit before anyone spots a single defect. Even when nothing is found, the bill arrives.

The old way — crews erecting scaffolding inside a storage tank, one worker entering through a manway
The old way: steel, standby crews, and a person through the manway.

$30–50K / tank

Scaffolding

Erect-and-strike scaffold for one internal tank inspection — before any inspection labor.

$3–8K / entry

Confined space entry risk

Permits, gas monitoring and standby rescue — every time a person goes inside.

$50K+ / day

Downtime

Days of lost production to stage scaffolding — past $500K/day on large assets.

Supports standards-based tank inspection workflows

X1 captures 4K visual records and LiDAR point-cloud data to help inspectors document tank shells, roofs, internal structures, fittings, and coating conditions — while reducing confined-space entry and scaffolding.

One nuclear outage

X1 supports condenser, steam-line and valve, cross-under piping, reactor building, turbine deck, and cooling tower inspections. For a major U.S. nuclear operator, replacing scaffold-based access across multiple visual inspection scopes reduced outage access costs by approximately $420,000.

NDTOffshore
16–18 in manways

Built for offshore inspection at scale

Offshore vessels and ballast tanks often have compact 16–18 in manways. X1 accesses openings that larger caged drones cannot, while costing less than one-third of legacy systems. Its compact size, stable flight, and ease of use make it practical for multi-week offshore campaigns and deployment across multiple regions.

FAQ

The questions everyone asks first.

How much does the X1 cost?

Pricing depends on configuration and region and is provided by Nolvis and authorized distributors. As a rule of thumb, a standard X1 package costs less than a single scaffolded tank inspection ($30,000+), so the hardware can pay for itself in the first inspection. Select Get Pricing, and we'll provide a tailored quote.

Do I need a licensed or expert drone pilot?

No specialist pilot is required. LiDAR-based stabilization helps X1 hold position, and operators can be field-ready after a few hours of training. Licensing, aviation, and site requirements vary by jurisdiction and operating environment — we'll advise for your region.

Will it fit through our access opening?

At 14.2 inches (360 mm) wide, X1 passes through openings as small as 16 inches (406 mm), including standard 18-inch manways that 20-inch-class caged drones cannot enter. Not sure? Send us the dimensions and shape of your smallest opening, and we'll confirm fit before you commit.

Does it replace our certified inspector?

No. X1 can reduce or eliminate scaffolding and confined-space entry for visual inspection — it does not replace the qualified inspector. Your inspector reviews the footage, documents findings, and makes the final assessment. The drone provides access and data; the inspector makes the call.

Can it produce 3D data or maps?

Yes. The onboard LiDAR used for flight stabilization also captures 3D point-cloud data in .LAS format at up to 200,000 points per second. This gives findings spatial context and records the asset's as-found geometry. The point cloud is optimized for inspection context and upward and lateral coverage rather than survey-grade mapping.
